Today, the Sierra Club released a new report showcasing 10 U.S. cities that have made ambitious commitments to be powered with 100 percent clean, renewable energy like wind and solar. Denver made its commitment to 100 percent clean, renewable electricity by 2030 earlier this year, and this report highlights Denver as an example for other city leaders looking to do the same.

The California Assembly today voted in favor of Senate Bill 100 (Kevin de Leon)-- a bill to move California to 100 percent renewable energy by 2045. This bill also increases California’s clean energy goals from 50 percent by 2030 to 60 percent by 2030. Governor Brown has thirty days to sign this bill into law. Once signed, California will represent the largest global economy and one of the biggest states of any kind in the world to have a goal of moving to 100 percent clean energy.

CLEVELAND, OH -- Today, residents from across Cleveland joined local leaders on the steps of City Hall to demonstrate support for the goal to power the city with 100% clean, renewable energy by 2050.

May 22, 2018

On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, the City of Norman, Oklahoma committed to transition to 100 percent clean and renewable energy. The Norman City Council unanimously adopted the resolution, which states that Norman will transition to use 100 percent clean energy like wind and solar for electricity by 2035 and across all sectors including heat and transportation by 2050.

May 11, 2018

On May 2, 2018, Kennett Township, Pennsylvania adopted a resolution to transition to 100 percent clean and renewable energy. Kennett Township becomes the first township and fourth municipality in the state to make this commitment.

The Bellingham City Council approved a resolution that establishes its commitment to a planning process that will assess the feasibility and pathways for getting to 100 percent renewable energy by 2030.

Air quality in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area is among the worst in the nation, according to the American Lung Association State of the Air 2018 report released on Wednesday. The American Lung Association gave Pittsburgh an “F” grade for ozone and particle pollution and ranked the city 8th for annual particle pollution in the country, highlighting the need for Pittsburgh to transition off of dirty fuels towards 100 percent clean and renewable energy.

ATLANTA, GA - The Atlanta metropolitan area created more than 500 new jobs in the state’s growing solar industry last year, according to a report released by The Solar Foundation. The Atlanta area is now home to 2,910 of solar jobs, an increase of 21% from 2016.
