CHICAGO, IL -- On Wednesday, the Chicago City Council unanimously voted to establish the goal of transitioning the entire city to 100 percent clean, renewable energy, like wind and solar, by 2035. Chicago becomes the largest city in the country to make this commitment, following cities like St. Louis, Madison, Atlanta, and San Francisco.

MISSOULA, MT -- Last night, the Missoula City Council unanimously voted to adopt a resolution to move the city’s electricity to 100 percent clean, renewable sources by 2030. Missoula becomes the first city in Montana, a state whose energy mix is 49 percent from coal, to adopt the goal.

BOISE, ID -- Today, the Boise City Council voted to adopt “Boise’s Energy Future,” a plan to move the city’s electricity to 100 percent renewable sources by 2035. After years of community advocacy, the Sierra Club’s Idaho Chapter and Ready for 100 Action campaign celebrate Boise becoming the first city in Idaho -- and 115th nationwide -- to adopt this goal.

SANTA FE, NM — Today, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed the Energy Transition Act (SB 489), a bill that sets a mandate of 100 percent carbon-free energy for the entire state.

Schuylkill, PA – On March 6, the Schuylkill Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution to transition the township to 100 percent renewable energy. By taking this action, Schuylkill becomes the seventh Chester county, and the 111th US municipality to establish this goal. Days after Schuylkill’s commitment, Whitemarsh Township also adopted a 100 percent renewable resolution. Both resolutions aim to use 100 percent renewable sources for electricity by 2035, and for heating and transportation by 2050.

Today, March 12, the New Mexico legislature passed the Energy Transition Act (SB 489), a bill that will make electricity generation 100 percent carbon-free by 2045 from the state’s investor-owned utilities.
