On Monday, Columbus City Council approved a ballot measure to set up a Community Choice Aggregation program, which would allow the city to be powered by 100 percent clean, renewable energy by 2022. The initiative will be the city’s ballot in November, allowing voters to decide whether Columbus should pursue Community Choice Aggregation, a program that allows local governments to negotiate for and purchase energy on behalf of their residents.

On Thursday afternoon, The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners (BCC) passed a resolution calling Florida Power and Light (FPL) to 1) suspend any service disconnections until 60 days after the state of emergency in Miami ends, 2) provide bill forgiveness for residents experiencing unemployment as a result of COVID-19, Asset Limited Income Constrained but Employed (ALICE) residents, and energy burdened residents, and 3) eliminate late fees and back charges. The Commissioners voted unanimously in favor of the resolution.

Salt Lake City, UT-- Last night, the Salt Lake City District School board passed a resolution unanimously establishing the goal of transitioning the school district to 100% clean electricity by 2030, and off of fossil fuels for heating and transportation by 2040. This effort was led by students from Salt Lake's three major high schools, in collaboration with Utah Sierra Club and Sierra Club's Climate Parents program.

PUEBLO, CO — Yesterday, Pueblo residents voted on whether or not to off-ramp from their electric utility, Black Hills Energy (BHE). In a disappointing vote, Pueblo voted “No” on 2A to keep their utility after Pueblo Cares, a dark money group, funneled $1.5 million into a fear-mongering “Vote No” campaign. HELENA, MT -- Today, the Helena City Commission unanimously passed a resolution establishing a community-wide goal of 100% clean, renewable electricity by 2030. Helena joins Missoula as the second city in Montana to set this goal.

LOUISVILLE, KY -- On Thursday, February 6, the Louisville Metro Council Parks and Sustainability Committee approved a resolution establishing a goal of powering the city’s municipal operations with 100% clean, renewable energy by 2035 and community-wide by 2040. Louisville becomes the first city in Kentucky and 160th nationwide to make this commitment.
